In Ladakh’s stark and beautiful landscape, life has always depended on respect for nature. For generations, farmers here have cultivated hardy crops like barley and buckwheat, carefully tended wild herbs, and preserved the bounty of short growing seasons to sustain their families through long winters. At Siachen Naturals, we honor these practices and carry them forward in everything we do.
Every product we create is an expression of this philosophy. From our barley soups enriched with local herbs to our vibrant seabuckthorn preserves bursting with natural vitamins, each recipe has been passed down and perfected by generations of Ladakhi women. We make our foods in small batches to preserve their purity and flavor, never using artificial preservatives or additives. Through partnerships with Self Help Groups, we create steady income opportunities, fair wages, and dignified work. Many of our women partners also take leadership roles in production and day-to-day operations, inspiring others in their villages to see new possibilities for themselves and their families.

Our Founder Tsetan Dorjay
He grew up in a village surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Ladakh’s mountains and valleys. From a young age, he understood that the land was both a teacher and a provider. But he also witnessed how modernization and environmental pressures were changing life in his community—traditional practices were disappearing, younger generations were moving away, and farmers struggled to find fair markets for their produce.
In 2016, driven by a desire to reconnect with something deeper, Tsetan stepped away from conventional education. He began a journey to rediscover what truly mattered to him: living in harmony with the land and creating meaningful work that could help his people thrive.
Over the next two years, Tsetan immersed himself in environmental projects and learned about the urgent need for sustainable practices in the fragile Himalayan region. He worked closely with communities that were grappling with climate change, water scarcity, and economic hardship. This time shaped a core conviction that guides Siachen Naturals to this day: that environmental well-being and human prosperity are inseparable.
In 2018, during his studies at the Naropa Fellowship, Tsetan’s ideas came into focus. He envisioned a company that would not only create high-quality foods but also restore pride in Ladakhi farming, empower women, and protect ecosystems.
Siachen Naturals began with just a few simple recipes—barley soup mixes, herbal infusions, and handmade preserves. But behind each product was a bigger dream: that food could be the foundation for building a stronger, more self-reliant community.
Tsetan’s journey was not without challenges. Starting a business rooted in traditional methods required patience, persistence, and countless hours spent earning trust in the villages. But his determination never wavered. Each milestone, from securing the first partnerships with Self-Help Groups to seeing the first shipments leave Ladakh, was a testament to the power of purpose-driven work.
Today, Tsetan continues to lead Siachen Naturals with humility and vision. His hope is that every product you taste becomes a reminder of the deep connection between people and place—and of what is possible when we honor the knowledge that has sustained communities for generations.
